Appellate Panel

Serving on a defense appellate panel for the Contra Costa Superior Court is an excellent way for attorneys to provide access to justice for the low-income community and gain valuable appellate law experience.  APPLICATIONS ARE NOT  BEING ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME.

Contra Costa Superior Court’s Appellate Panel

The Superior Court is in need of attorneys who are willing to represent indigent criminal defendants in misdemeanor appeals. If you’re interested in lending your expertise to this important cause, please read on!

 

Do you qualify?

Interested attorneys must be in good standing with the State Bar of California; have strong research and writing skills; possess an understanding of basic criminal law and procedure; and be available on the first Friday of the month for oral argument.

Residency in Contra Costa County is not required.

 

What is the compensation?

Attorneys on the panel are compensated at a rate of $85/hour.

Attorneys are paid for all work upon conclusion of the case.
