Immigration Law Section

Immigration law is here to stay. According to the Migration Policy Institute, in 2013, more than 40 million immigrants lived in the United States and it is estimated that one in five of the world's international immigrants have the United States as their final destination.

A group of local immigration attorneys has recently formed an Immigration Section within the CCCBA to support the work of Contra Costa's immigration attorneys and promote the best possible immigration services in our county and beyond.

The section will provide continuing education, training and mentoring for immigration attorneys. It will also inform attorneys practicing in other areas of the law of the overlap between Immigration law and their areas of practice - eg. employment, juvenile, family, criminal, business & estate planning and probate. The section will work to promote events and programs that make Immigration Law accessible to those who need it. Dues will be $25/year.

The next section meeting will be held on Monday, May 16th at Noon at the CCCBA office. At this meeting the by-laws will be finalized and the calendar for the year will be set. For more information about CCCBA's new Immigration Section, please contact Section Chair Flavio Carvalho at fc@flaviocarvalholaw.com or (415) 448-6529.

To join the section either log into your CCCBA profile or contact Jenny Comages, Membership Coordinator at jcomages@cccba.org or (925) 370-2543
