Bankruptcy Law Section
The Bankruptcy Law Section is comprised of attorneys who primarily represent debtors and/or creditors in bankruptcies. In addition, several members are non-attorneys, including accountants and bankruptcy trustees. The purpose of the section is to provide a forum of fellowship and learning concerning topics of interest for attorneys and non-attorneys who practice in or provide support to the bankruptcy bar. There are approximately forty active members.
The section meets four to five times a year, usually at the JFKU School of Law in Pleasant Hill on the third Wednesday of the month at lunchtime. Guest speakers are invited to these luncheons to discuss topics of interest to the bankruptcy bar. Brown bag lunches are provided for $20/person (price can vary) and the programs are usually approved for one hour of MCLE credit. Past speakers have included bankruptcy judges and trustees, private practice attorneys in the area, and other professionals from the community at large.
If you would like more information regarding the section, please contact the chair.
