With the encouragement and enthusiastic support from the
Bar Association leadership, general membership, and the county
judiciary, the Diversity Section became the newest CCCBA section in
2008. The section will work to further the goals and interests of
attorneys, law students, legal professionals, and residents of color and
other under-represented groups within our county.
We welcome all bar members to our section and look
forward to your participation and input. The annual dues are $25.00.

Free In-House MCLE program available to CCCBA members!
The CCCBA's Diversity Committee developed a Power Point Presentation
entitled "Investing in the Future of Diversity: Building a Better
Law Practice", which qualifies for one hour of elimination of bias
in the legal profession MCLE credit. Members of the committee will
present this seminar at no cost, in-house to member law firms with 10 or
more attorneys. Arrangements can also be made fo presentation to
small groups of CCCBA members.
The seminar focuses on why diversity matters; the state of diversity in
the legal profession nationally, state-wide, and locally, as well as in
law schools and on the bench; reasons for the lack of progress;
perceptions of lawyers from diverse backgrounds; what the organized bar
is currently doing; model law firm programs; and, finally, what lawyers
and law firms can do to increase diversity by attracting and retaining
attorneys from diverse backgrounds.
If you are interested in scheduling a presentation,
please contact Lisa Reep at (925) 288-2555.
