The Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section is comprised of attorneys who primarily represent debtors
and/or creditors in bankruptcies. In addition, several members are non-attorneys including accountants
and bankruptcy trustees. The purpose of the section is to provide a forum of learning, fellowship and
topics of interest for attorneys and non-attorneys who practice in or provide support to the bankruptcy
bar. There are approximately 50 active members and participants.
The section meets approximately four to five times a year. Generally, meetings are held at
the John F. Kennedy University School of Law in Pleasant Hill on the third Wednesday of the month. Guest speakers are
invited to these luncheons to discuss topics of interest to the bankruptcy bar.
Brown bag lunches are $20 per person and are usually approved for one hour of MCLE credit. Past speakers
have included bankruptcy judges and trustees, private practice attorneys in the area and other
professionals from the community at large.
If you are interested in becoming a member or would like more information regarding the section,
please contact the chair. Annual membership is $20.00 for attorneys and affiliates.
